March 1 – 4, 2017
Scotiabank Dance Centre
Kinesis Dance somatheatro marks its landmark 30th anniversary with the world premiere of In PENUMBRA, as part of the Vancouver International Dance Festival, March 1 – 4, 2017 at 8pm at the Scotiabank Dance Centre (with a preview performance on March 1).
Choreographed by Artistic Director Paras Terezakis, and a continuum of 2015’s U>W, this new multi-media work is inspired by the search for utopia, how the insatiable desire to reach this paradise brings out both the best and the worst in us, and the penumbra – the grey area between light and darkness – that clouds our quest for enlightenment. The intricate, experimental choreography is executed by a powerhouse ensemble of fearless dancers – Elissa Hanson, Renée Sigouin, Hyoseung Ye, Arash Khakpour, and Diego Romero – who lead audiences through a thrilling multi-sensory landscape of contrasts and contradictions.
