Latex – Dance Lab

2013
Scotiabank Dance Centre
Vancouver, BC

In June 2013, Terezakis conducted intensive research into the human body and investigated the impact of sound and video on his movement creation and resulting choreographic choices. Sound artist Kristen Roos used electronic sources like radios and droning machines introducing a sense of awareness of objects and their relationships. Sounds became descriptive for each dancer. Using 5 different bodies, the human body became a rich source of sound material.

Terezakis re-teamed with Josh Hite from their previous collaborations on Compartment 114, Perverse Accumulation and ODDessay 114. Josh brought new tools such as wireless GoPro-Cams which strap on to both the dancer and the choreographer to arrive at a most immediate inside view of movement creation. The video created a wall separating the VIEWER from what’s happening live, but the camera allowed the audience to FEEL as if we are in the dance.

This workshop was made possible with the support of the Dance Centre.
