Parallax
April 2016
Scotiabank Dance Centre
Vancouver, BC
Paras went into the studio for comprehensive research and creation for 4 weeks to re-examine material from last year’s U>W as well as revisiting material generated from, but not used, in his two previous creative intensives. The final showing was held informally as studio presentations with talk back sessions.
Paras and his collaborators re-examined core attributes of U>W including the waltz component, performers’ interaction and use of light as a catalyst for movement invention and duets/pairings. It solidified his intentions to further explore and expand the use of light as both metaphor and character to interplay with the dancers.
